With a combined 85 years experience in Despatch/Demurrage settlement, TransCoal is filling a niche in the world coal market. With increasing export tonnages over the last 5 years, company ‘buyouts’ and staff downsizing, many marketing and procurement departments are struggling to process the increasing amounts of despatch/demurrage.

In the past twelve months, TransCoal has processed over 18 million tonnes of despatch/demurrage from Newcastle, Gladstone and Dalrymple Bay to Buyer’s and Shipowners worldwide. Despatch/demurrage is one of the most time consuming and inefficient processes especially for joint shipments of several different coals on one vessel. The duplication of resources in each marketing department immediately disappears with centralising the calculation and settlement under the TransCoal umbrella. It also simplifies the process from the Buyer’s perspective.

Up to 80% of Despatch/Demurrage is confirmed or settled by TransCoal within 3 months of Bill of Lading Date.

TransCoal has developed a unique multi query database which efficiently handles the complex recording, invoicing and monthly reporting and also includes a Net Des/Dem $/tonne Key Performance Indicator, important for gauging port efficiency.
